Local young-gun Luke Travers was drafted to the Cleveland Cavaliers with pick 56 in the 2022 NBA draft.

Following an impressive performance in the NBA Summer League, Cavaliers General Manager Mike Gansey has arrived in Perth to spend time with Travers and watch him in his home-town environment.

Travers outlines what he believes the Cavaliers are looking for in him as a player.

“I think just being myself,” he said.

“Doing the little things on the basketball court, it’s been good to catch up with Mike and talk about some feedback and hopefully some future plans as well, it’s been good to have him here.

“We’ll catch up for lunch and a couple of dinners so it will be nice.”

Travers said he feels comfortable having Gansey in town watching his progress.

“Yeah, I spent a bit of time around him when I was in Cleveland,” he said.

“It’s another familiar face to have around which is nice and nice to talk about some feedback so it will be good.

“Any time you can get that sort of feedback from an organisation like that is a good thing.”

Constantly improving on his game, Travers said he still has work to do.

“Obviously shooting, but just continuing to play hard and doing the little things that I do on court to help teams win,” he said.

“That’s the reason they drafted me and they just want to see more of that.”
