Changing of the (point) Guard

Mitch Norton is backing himself to take over the starting point guard position in the 2020/21 NBL season.
Damian Martin held that position for a decade, before announcing his retirement last month.
With Martin returning from injury ahead of last year’s Finals, Norton took over the reigns as the Wildcats went on to win the 2020 title.
He believes that experience will give his teammates additional confidence in him.
“I think that’s given the older guys more confidence in me,” Norton said.
“If it was my first year starting, it might have been off-putting but I’ve started at other clubs too. I’m not guaranteed to roll up and be the starter. I’ve still got to earn that spot during pre-season and that’d what I’ll be aiming to do.”
Last week, the Perth Wildcats added veteran point gaurd Kevin White to back-up Norton at that position.
