Cotton Focused on Improving Sluggish Starts

Three-time NBL MVP Bryce Cotton has addressed the team’s slow starts, saying it’s a focus point going into Saturday’s game against Tasmania JackJumpers.
“Getting back to our consistency and the intensity we play with on the defensive end,” he said.
“All four games to start this season, we’ve started off sluggish in the first three or four minutes.
“If we can have a better start, we put ourselves in a better position rather than having to play catch up all the time.”
Cotton praises the recruiting from the JackJumpers coaching staff.
“Scott Roth and Jacob (Chance) have done wonders over there,” he said.
“They’ve done a good job of recruiting the right players to fit their system and it seems like they’re picking up where they left off.
“We’re not going in there looking past them at all, it’s a team we’ve got to respect and obviously they’re going to try and protect their home floor. “
Matching up with teammate Corey Webster at training has been very beneficial for Cotton so far this season.
“It’s fun, obviously he’s a hell of a player and I feel that helps me defensively,” he said.
“There’s not many guys that have the ability that he has in the league, and vice versa, so we just try to push each other to make to make each other better.”
Perth Wildcats take on Tasmania JackJumpers at MyState Bank Arena on Saturday night, tip-off at 5:00pm WST. Watch live on ESPN via Kayo and Foxtel.
