Three-time NBL MVP and Wildcats superstar Bryce Cotton has re-joined his teammates and commenced his pre-season training schedule ahead of the upcoming season.
Cotton returned to his hometown of Tuscon, Arizona in the off-season, but says he still put in a little work over his break.
“I had a good time resting a little bit back home, but also made sure I got back to work, but not over-working my body so I’m feeling pretty rejuvenated.”
Having recently returned to Perth, Cotton says he is looking forward to getting to know the newest recruits.
“I think all of them bring skill sets that we can benefit from,” he said.
“TaShawn (Thomas) is a great defender and rebounder, Brady (Manek) is a shooter and Corey (Webster) has always been an all-round player so it’s great to have them on our side and I’m looking forward to building this chemistry.”
With John Rillie taking the head coaching helm ahead of NBL23, Cotton says the team are adjusting to a new style of play.
“Because it’s been three coaches in three seasons, you just have to unlearn what you’ve learnt in the previous season because all the coaches have different styles,” he said.
“It’s still early and we’re still learning JR’s style of play and what he likes, but we’re coming along pretty good so far from what I’ve seen.”
The Perth Wildcats season tips off Sunday 2 October against Brisbane Bullets at RAC Arena.
