Doolittle recalls whirlwind start to time at Wildcats

Doolittle touched in Perth just three days before the Wildcats' season-opening win over Tasmania at RAC Arena on September 29.
It all happened so quickly, Doolittle had limited knowledge of the team's plays and only knew the names of head coach John Rillie and General Manager of Basketball Operations Danny Mills.
“It was like ‘hey whatever number’. I had just met everybody 48 hours before we played,” Doolittle told The West Australian’s The Dribble Podcast.
“I had learned maybe two plays that I knew without having to be told where to go. It was tough. I’d never been in a situation like that before to where not only did I not know the plays, I didn’t know anybody’s name.
“I just knew my coach’s name and my General Manager’s name. I didn’t know anything else.”
Doolittle’s recent form has been one of the keys to the Wildcats' five-game winning streak.
He was one of the stars in Saturday's thrilling come-from-behind win over Brisbane at Nissan Arena, scoring 21 points to go with nine rebounds.
The powerful American said he was keen to add to his recent championship success, including two in Puerto Rico and one in Japan, at the Wildcats.
“I don’t play just to play. I play to win. I hate losing more than I like winning,” he said.
“Anything I can do, I'll sacrifice myself to help this team reach the ultimate goal which is a championship.
"I’ve been brought up saying when the team wins everybody wins. That’s why I don’t really get caught up in stats or who shoots how many times. I just want to win.”
Doolittle and the Wildcats return to action after the FIBA break against reigning champs Sydney at RAC Arena on December 1.
