Context
The Perth Wildcats travel to Tasmania to take on the JackJumpers at Mystate Bank Arena. The JackJumpers are coming off an impressive 10-point win over Melbourne United, in Melbourne, and will be wanting to ride that momentum wave into this round. The Wildcats will be looking to bounce back after falling to Melbourne United last Friday night at home. The sluggish start came back to bite them and it’s been a big focus at practice during the week.
Pre-game words
John Rillie on the match-up with Tasmania.
“I’ve got the utmost respect for Tassie and what Scott Roth and the rest of his coaching staff has done with that roster,” he said.
“It amuses me how people are still surprised that they win games, the 50/50’s, the one percenters, whatever terminology you want to use, they’re the best in the league, so if we don’t win that battle, it’s going to be really hard to beat them in Tasmania.
“They’re comfortable with who they are, they embrace it and then they execute it to the highest level.”
Roster Availability
TaShawn Thomas comes back into the 11-man line-up to face Tasmania.
Opponents to watch out for
Sharp-shooting Milton Doyle will be one to watch in this game. After a relatively uncharacteristic quiet game against Melbourne, he will be wanting to come out firing, for himself and for his team.
Last time they met
The Perth Wildcats were the Tasmania JackJumpers 83-85 at RAC Arena. Bryce Cotton was Perth’s best, finishing with 23 points, while Jack McVeigh stood out for Tasmania with 19 points and 7 rebounds.
