From the Wildcats to the Suns, Terrico White is Still Hooping

When he left after two seasons with the club after the 2019-20 season, he did so with two rings and a championship MVP. 

When reminiscing on his time at the Wildcats, White said that becoming a two-time NBL Championship is what stood out. 

“It was a great time, great memories. To actually go back to back. Well, for me, it was kind of a three peat because I had won a championship in South Korea the year before I came to Perth.”

“You know, just being a part of a great organisation, great club, great teammates, that’s what really stood out the most.”

He reminisced on the Red Army as being the sixth man of the back-to-back championship run.

“The Red Army, you know they are always great, you know sold out games every home game.” 

“You know they were the sixth man you know it was it was great time playing in front of the Red Army.”

Now back in Perth, White is taking on a new chapter of his basketball journey with the Eastern Suns in the NBL1 West.

“Being back in Perth it’s just like my home away from home. I love being here”

“It’s the same Perth, nothing’s really changed.”

“The opportunity came out to play with the Suns you know and I jumped right on it.” 

“I was sitting off of basketball for about a year. So, you know when the opportunity came I signed ASAP, I signed early too.” 

White said he’s particularly enjoying playing alongside two of the league’s best scorers in Marshall Nelson and Randy Bell.

“They are two scorers, it’s fun playing with them. Sometimes I just sit back and watch them hoop, it’s pretty cool”

It’s been five years since White last played in Perth, but he’s embracing this phase of his career.

“I'm a bit older now since when I was last here but you know, just trying to continue to enjoy playing basketball.”

“I don't know how many years I’ve got left playing, but right now I'm just trying to enjoy it”

With the Suns currently sitting sixth on the ladder at 9–9, White believes the team is clicking at the right time.

“We’re doing pretty good.”

“Everybody's coming back from injury. You know, we’ve pretty much been healthy now and everything is starting to click. So right now you know I'm pretty good.”
