Perth Wildcats head coach Trevor Gleeson has thanked the club’s members for their ongoing support through difficult circumstances.
It’s been seven months since the Wildcats last played in front of its fans, and this weekend would likely have marked the opening round of the 2020/21 season if not for COVID-19 delays.
Gleeson spoke at an exclusive Meet The Team event on Wednesday.
“Thank you so much for your support, going through last year with COVID, and playing without a crowd, we sometimes take things for granted out there in the Arena, and we certainly love your support, especially this far out from the season,” he said.
“We can’t wait to play in front of you guys and put a performance on that you’ll be proud to cheer about.
“Thank you so much for your support today and going forward. That first game back out at RAC Arena is going to be a cracker”
The Perth Wildcats currently have 10,578 members signed for the upcoming season.
Gleeson also commented on the progress of the playing roster so far.
“It’s going to be a new period for us, but it gives guys an opportunity to grow and develop and I’m really looking forward to how this group comes together throughout the course of the season,” he said.
The team have been training four times per week, with eight rostered players and two development players on the floor.
John Mooney and Taylor Britt are yet to arrive in Perth from overseas.
The team has one roster position remaining.
