Grace, who is still the Wildcats’ record-holder for games, points, assists and steals, won four titles and two grand final MVPs during his decorated 482-game NBL career.
He’s already a member of Basketball Australia’s Hall of Fame and is one of just eight Wildcats to have his jersey retired, with his iconic No.15 hanging in the rafters at RAC Arena.
Born in Texas, Grace arrived at the Wildcats in his mid-20s as an import before becoming a naturalised Australian and representing the Boomers at the Olympics.
The former point guard still calls WA home and is still contributing to the sport of basketball, running clinics with his Grace Basketball business.
“I’m humbled. When I arrived here as a 24-year-old, I didn’t plan on spending all of my adult life here,” Grace told The West Australian.
“I feel like I’m not only Australian, I am West Australian. To be voted into the West Australian Basketball Hall of Fame is something I truly value.
“Something I learned is being from Western Australia has a mentality which is similar to where I’m from in Texas. Texans feel like they can take the world on, and West Australians have that same sort of mentality.”
