Perth Wildcats young gun Ben Henshall put in a strong performance as the Boomers resumed their FIBA Asia Cup qualifying campaign with a road win over Thailand.

The 20-year-old made the most of his time on court, finishing with a near triple-double as Australia thrashed Thailand 101-48 in Bangkok on Thursday night.

Henshall stuffed the box score with 12 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and four steals in just 22 minutes, shooting at five of eight from the field.

Thailand had a shock 22-15 lead at quarter-time before the Boomers, coached by former Wildcats assistant Jacob Chance, kicked into gear to dominate the contest.

A couple of ex-Wildcats championship-winning players also featured for the Boomers - big man Nick Kay (four points, four rebounds and four assists) and guard Mitch Norton (two points and three assists).

The Boomers are in action again on Sunday against Korea in Goyang before Henshall returns home to prepare for the Wildcats' home double-header at RAC Arena against Brisbane (Friday 29 November) and New Zealand (Sunday 1 December).

Elsewhere, fellow Wildcat Hyrum Harris had three points, two rebounds and one steal in New Zealand's narrow loss to the Philippines.

Former Wildcats sharpshooter Corey Webster starred for the Tall Blacks with 25 points and five assists in the 93-89 away loss.

Next Star Izan Almansa is set to make his Spanish senior debut against Slovakia in Bratislava on Saturday before facing the same opposition on home soil in Ourense next Tuesday.
