Perth Wildcats centre Matt Hodgson has credited staying healthy to his recent run of good form.
Hodgson has recovered from a number of injuries in 2021/22 and has played the last seven games – his longest stretch of the season.
In his last three games he’s racked up double-figures, including a. season-high 16 points against Adelaide.
He also had his first double-figure rebounding night against Melbourne earlier this month.
Since Round 18, he’s averaging 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, compared with his season average of 6.9 points and 4.3 rebounds.
“I think it’s about being healthy. My game’s based off a lot of high energy, so now that I’m healthy and fit, I’m able to showcase that and do that more times than not, compared to when I was hurt and trying to get back into rhythm and getting back into shape,” said Hodgson.
He said spending more time on the court is allowing him to develop a strong chemistry with Bryce Cotton.
“I feel like we’ve done a good job through the year of building chemistry, and I think now it’s showing on the court. I’ve been enjoying that. He creates that much attention that it makes it easier for me, and I think he appreciates me trying to get him open.”
The Perth Wildcats take on the Illawarra Hawks in their penultimate regular season game on Friday night at RAC Arena.
