IGA has put pen to paper on a new two-year partnership with the Perth Wildcats.
The brand will once again be proudly displayed on the team’s playing apparel as well as featuring prominently on the RAC Arena basketball ring backstops and courtside LED advertising.
Australia’s largest independent grocery chain first joined as a partner of the club last season, citing its high profile and strong affinity with the Western Australian community as the major reasons for doing so.
Local support continues to be the key driver for brand and its renewed commitment to the Wildcats.
WA State General Manager Murray Ryan stressed that support of the local community was at the cornerstone of the IGA brand and standing behind one of WA’s favourite sporting icons was a strong way of showing that community support while reinforcing this message to the WA public and its customers.
“Where the locals matter is IGA’s mantra, it is at the heart of what our business is all about, locals supporting locals and giving back to the local community in which they live and operate. You can feel that and see that support in action throughout all of our stores right across the state,” said Mr Ryan.
“Having an affiliation with the Wildcats and being part of their family is something we are all immensely proud about at IGA. Being part of the Wildcats to us truly means being part of WA.
“The Wildcats have an incredible affinity with their members and fans, they are very community minded and highly active in terms of their levels of community engagement and support. Western Australians love the ‘Cats, they bring us so much joy and make us feel good and we hope our customers feel the same about us and our people.”
Perth Wildcats CEO Troy Georgiu expressed his gratitude at the faith shown by IGA in wanting to continue their support.
“IGA are a great brand and I am truly humbled to have them continue as part of our corporate family," said Mr Georgiu.
"Having a brand of this ilk put their support behind the Wildcats speaks volumes to where we have come to as an organisation and what we stand for. The essence of the IGA brand is a fantastic fit for us, built around community and locals supporting locals, it’s what both organisations are all about.
“I would like to sincerely thank everyone at IGA for their continued support, the board, senior executives and the many local store owners. I strongly encourage the Red Army to show their support of their local IGA like I know many of them will and already do!”
