Across his first three games in red, Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. has averaged 19.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks, while also celebrating two major milestones of 1500 NBL career points and 200 career blocks.
Lual Acuil Jr. has made a commanding start to life as a Perth Wildcat, adding to his reputation as one of the league’s most dominant players through the opening three games of the NBL season.
His impact has been felt at both ends of the floor, bringing presence, leadership and consistency to the Wildcats front court.
Head Coach John Rillie said his influence extends well beyond the box score.
“Jo’s consistency and competitiveness have been huge for us. He anchors our defence and when he’s aggressive on both ends, it sets the tone for the whole group.”
For Lual Acuil, his seamless transition into the Wildcats system has been shaped by a mix of familiarity and connection. Having grown up in Perth, the move back home has been both personal and purposeful.
“It’s been really special being back home and having my family around. Having that support makes a big difference,” he said.
“JR and I spoke a couple of years ago before I went overseas, and when the opportunity came, it just made perfect sense.”
That shared belief between player and coach has carried into the locker room.
Lual Acuil Jr. has taken an active role in helping his teammates build cohesion on and off the floor.
“We’ve got great chemistry building. I just want to help the team in any way I can, whether that’s leading by example or helping the young guys develop.”
While his early performances continue to draw attention around the league, Lual Acuil Jr. continues to measure success by team results.
His focus remains on building momentum, maintaining standards and helping drive the Wildcats’ push for a strong Hungry Jacks NBL26 season.
