Perth Wildcats recruit Will Magnay will be eased into the team’s rotation, starting from Sunday’s game against the Breakers.
Wildcats coach Trevor Gleeson said, while he will suit up on Sunday, fans may not see a lot of the 2020 NBL Most Improved Player.
“I don’t know how much he will play on Sunday, if anything, he’s been locked up in a room for two weeks and while he’s been keeping his fitness level up in there, he doesn’t know any of the guys or the plays,” he said.
“I dare say he will be very limited first up, and then we’ll build him up.”
Magnay will arrive in Perth tomorrow afternoon and will be tested before a decision will be made on his minutes for Sunday’s game.
The clash is the Wildcats fifth game against the Breakers this season, with the two rivals coming away with two wins each so far.
The most recent three have all come down to the wire, with both teams producing heroics down the stretch to seal wins.
Gleeson said NZ import Levi Randolph has been a problem.
“He had a great game here in Perth and then I nthe last game, to hit the shot virtually on the buzzer,” he said.
“It doesn’t matter where we are on the ladder when we play New Zealand, it’s always a good game, so we’re expecting the same again.
“Three close games, hopefully this one is close bit it goes in our favour.”
Tip-off is at 3pm on Sunday.
Capacity is limited to 75 per cent and masks must be worn by those attending.
All season seated members can attend the game using their Wildcats memebrship card.
