Perth Wildcats centre Majok Majok suffered an Achilles tendon injury at team training on Wednesday.
Scans have since confirmed a rupture of the tendon, and the 27-year-old will undergo surgery to repair the injury.
The recovery time for a ruptured Achilles tendon is approximately nine months, meaning he will miss the entire upcoming NBL season.
Majok was entering the second season of his two-year contract with the Wildcats.
The West Australian averaged 3.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in the championship-winning 2019/20 season.
Perth Wildcats recruitment staff have begun the search for a replacement player.
