Perth Wildcats big man Matt Hodgson has accepted a three-game suspension by the NBL Tribunal, with two-games of the penalty suspended.
This means Hodgson will miss tomorrow’s game against South East Melbourne Phoenix before becoming available for the Wildcats next game against Melbourne United game on 12 February.
Hodgson was charged with two counts of striking and engaging in a melee by the Game Review Panel following Sunday’s game against the Sydney Kings.
The single-member tribunal dismissed the charge of engaging in a melee, while each striking charge deemed intentional, high contact and medium impact.
The penalty was handed down at the conclusion of a three-hour hearing on Friday afternoon.
The 30-year-old released the following statement earlier this week.
"I consider my reaction out of character and I'm extremely disappointed in myself as I've let down my teammates, club and fans.
"To Dejan, I'm sorry, there is no excuse for my behaviour.
"I take full responsibility for my actions and will make every effort to improve myself physically and mentally before returning to the court."
The Wildcats also released a statement upon the Game Review Panel’s findings.
“The Perth Wildcats pride itself on integrity and character and do not condone the actions that occurred during Sunday’s contest.
“While out of character, Hodgson’s actions were not in line with the club’s core values or the type of behaviour it expects from its players and staff as role models in the community.”
