For more than forty years, Roman Miskiewicz has been part of the fabric of the Perth Wildcats.
As a foundation member since 1982, his story shows the passion, loyalty and pride that define the Red Army.
This feature highlights his words, his experiences and the connection that has kept him coming back for more than four decades.
Roman’s journey began with a single game at Perry Lakes Stadium.
“I became a member after I attended my first game back in 1982. I knew from the very first game that I wanted to be a part of this club.”
That first experience was all it took for him to know the Wildcats were his team.
Forty three years later, he still feels the same way.
“Watching my first Wildcats game in 1982 at Perry Lakes Stadium was an amazing experience and I just wanted more of it, so I kept coming back every season and here I am 43 years later.”
His loyalty reflects the commitment that has turned the Red Army into the most passionate fanbase in the country.
Roman has experienced the defining moments of Wildcats history.
“Obviously our first NBL title in 1990.”
But personal fan moments have left just as big a mark.
“Last year I attended a night at The Camfield with BC and Marto talking about their careers and I won the door prize. I also had a chance to shoot hoops with the guys.”
These memories capture exactly why the club’s bond with its members is so special.
Roman’s pride shows the moment he arrives at the arena.
“I always wear my Wildcats polo and my member card with pride, which states Member since 1982.”
For him, it is more than a game day routine. It is a badge of honour.

Being a member has given Roman connections that go far beyond basketball.
“I have met many members and made some great friendships. This pre season I had the privilege of having coffee with the Wildcats owner Mark Arena, talking Wildcats.”
It is these shared moments that show how deeply the club values its members.
Roman describes RAC Arena in a way only a long term member can.
“It’s like being plugged in and switched on once you enter the Arena. Everything from pre game right up until leaving the arena is full of excitement.”
His words echo what so many fans feel on game day.
Roman believes the strength of the club comes from its supporters.
“Wildcats fans have been spoilt with success since the early nineties and yes there have been tough times, but we never give up on our team. We rejoin as members whether we win the championship or not year after year.”
This resilience is what sets the Red Army apart.
Having seen every era, Roman has a unique perspective on the club’s evolution.
“Early times were very hard as the club tried to establish themselves, but through hard work and good management and ownership, it has developed us into the powerhouse of the NBL.”
His story reflects the progress made both on and off the court.
Roman’s words capture exactly what makes the Perth Wildcats more than just a team. His passion, his loyalty and his pride are the foundation of the Red Army and a reminder of why this club remains so special.
