No excuses for rebounding struggles

Perth Wildcats star wing Vic Law has emphatically declared that there are no excuses for his team’s rebounding numbers.
Without starting centre Matt Hodgson in two of their last three games, the Wildcats have been outrebounded by an average of more than 10 boards.
But Law said too much has been made of his team’s lack of height, and that it comes down to effort and technique.
“We’re not that small. If you go down the list and look, are we that much smaller than Melbourne?” he said.
“They have Jo (Lual Acuil). We have Hodgy and Majok. Their four (man) is my height. Caleb (Agada) is not that big. Goulding doesn’t rebound.
“Dellavedova crashes but he’s not that big. I love this narrative that we’re not that big, but we’re the same size as every team. We just haven’t rebounded yet.”

The Wildcats will be boosted by the return of Hodgson for this week’s game against Sydney.
But Law, who is averaging a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game, said it comes down to players like him to wrap up the 50-50 balls.
Scott’s been on me this week about blocking out and making sure a lot of the guys I’m on aren’t flying in there or crashing,” he said.
“Jack White got a big put-back dunk in the game against us and that was 100 per cent my fault. I’ve got to take care what I can take care of.
“I can’t speak for my other teammates but putting some onus on myself. I know I can block out and make sure I clear out space for my teammates.”
Michael Frazier averages 6.6 rebounds per game, while Luke Travers is third on the Wildcats with 6.4.
Tip-off in Sydney on Saturday is at 5pm on ESPN.
