It was not to be for Andrew Ferguson's Lakeside Lightning, falling to the Goldfields Giants 58-67 in the SBL's West Coast Classic at the weekend.
Despite the loss, Ferguson was a stand-out, finishing with a game-high 24 points and eight rebounds.
Wani Swaka Lo Buluk and the Warwick Senators claimed a 93-73 win over the Mandurah Magic, with Swaka Lo Buluk managing 15 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Having recorded just one loss after the first six rounds, the Warwick Senators have taken top spot in the standings.
Luke Travers' Cockburn Cougars fell short against the Geraldton Buccaneers, while 2019/20 DP Chuatwech Reath and the East Perth Eagles were bested by the Perry Lakes Hawks.
