Perth Wildcats young gun David Okwera will join several of his teammates in the New Zealand Basketball League this off-season.

The talented big has signed with NZNBL outfit Franklin Bulls for their 2025 campaign and will fly out to New Zealand over the weekend to join his new team.

It’s a change of scenery for Okwera, who stayed locally last off-season when he suited up for NBL1 West side East Perth Eagles.

He’s not the only Wildcats featuring across the ditch with Hyrum Harris playing for Wellington Saints, coached by assistant Aaron Young.

It's Young's first season as head coach for the Saints after a successful stint at Auckland Tuatara which included leading the team to multiple grand final appearances.

Development player Dontae Russo-Nance has switched NZ teams from Otago Nuggets to Manawatu Jets, where he’ll play alongside former Wildcats teammate Corey Webster.
