The Perth Wildcats have added significant knowledge and leadership to its commercial team, appointing media and marketing veteran Sam Fotu as the club’s new Head of Commercial.
A West Australian local, Fotu brings over 10 years’ experience in senior roles with Southern Cross Austereo, including six years as WA Regional General Manager.
Fotu said it’s an honour to have the opportunity to lead the commercial area for such a well-respected and innovative organisation.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be in and around the Wildcats dating back to the 1980s, it has been a part of my life for more than three decades,” he said.
“To now work for this great franchise is a tremendous honour, with my strong commercial background combined with my passion for the club making it a great fit.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with all our fantastic partners to help achieve their objectives while continuing to grow the Wildcats brand throughout the state.”
Fotu has an extensive basketball background in WA as both a player and administrator.
Prior to this appointment Fotu served as the Chairperson of the Bunbury Basketball Association and formerly played for the Willetton Tigers in the SBL.
He also has a strong history and connection with the Wildcats, being on the inner sanctum of the club as a development player during Adrian Hurley’s tenure from 1995 to 1997.
The Head of Commercial role will sit as a senior executive position within the club, allowing Fotu to have critical responsibility in leading and managing all commercial activity for the Wildcats.
A major focus will be the continued growth and collaboration with new and existing corporate partners.
This includes an aligned approach with Sports Entertainment Network to add additional value for partners.
With this senior role confirmed, SEN and the Wildcats have commenced recruitment for the newly advertised CEO role, with information on the successful candidate to be shared in due course.
