The Perth Wildcats have agreed to part ways with veteran duo Mitch Norton and Todd Blanchfield.

While the pair remained under contract, the club believes this decision is in the best interests of all parties moving forward.

Norton joined the Wildcats in 2018, making a substantial impact during his time at the club, winning back-to-back championships in 2019 and 2020, and was named vice-captain of the team in 2021.

Blanchfield was recruited to the team in 2020 and went on to have his best NBL season in 2021, averaging 15.3 points per game while setting the record for the most three-pointers made by a Wildcat in a single season.

The Perth Wildcats would like to thank Norton and Blanchfield for their years of service and contribution to the club and wish them all the best for their careers in the future.

Perth Wildcats General Manager of Basketball Operations Danny Mills issued the following statement.

“In what were two difficult decisions to make because of the quality of people and players both Mitch and Todd are, we believe this is the right decision for the club and in the best interests of the organisation’s long-term plans,” he said.

“We thank both Mitch and Todd for their outstanding contribution to the Wildcats, both on and off the court and wish them nothing but the best for the next stage of their careers.”
