Wildcats head coach John Rillie has confirmed that Todd Blanchfield will play against Illawarra Hawks on Saturday, following a shoulder concern at practice on Tuesday.
“Blanchfield was at practice today and had a full practice,” he said.
“He was probably a little concerned because it was a previous injury to that shoulder, so I think anyone’s natural instinct is to go to that place, but he was very good in practice today.
“He battled last year with several different injuries so to go down that rabbit hole, but to come back out and be able to participate and know that he’s playing this weekend is great relief for him.”
After a successful season-opener last weekend, Rillie said he will never forget the first time he walked out to the Red Army at RAC Arena.
“It was phenomenal, I’ll always remember just walking out and embracing that moment for the first time as a head coach,” he said.
“It’s easy to be on top of your game and motivated in that environment, they (Red Army) are very supportive and they always have been.”
