Perth Wildcats head coach John Rillie spoke to the media and shared how much he values watching game film with the players.
“When players aren’t playing at a level that they’re happy with, I spend time with them just in a one-on-one talking situation and watch film,” he said.
“It’s amazing how many times you watch film with a player and they’re surprised with some of the situations they put themselves in, so it really becomes just a self-correct.
“It brings a little more clarity when I can sit down with them and discuss what I’m seeing and what they’re seeing and how we can come to a situation where everyone is comfortable.”
At this stage of the season, Rillie said the team has a good understanding of each other.
“Now that we’re 9 or 10 games into the season, I have a better understanding of the players, they have a better understanding of me and the way we want to function as a team is clearer,” he said.
“The pieces come together a little easier that way.”
Rillie will coach his first Pink Game on Thursday night and said it means a lot to the team.
“We extended an invitation to Breast Cancer Care WA and one of their patients that they’re caring for to come down to practice and hear their back story,” he said.
“It means that little bit more when the players really understand what the Pink Game can provide for a lot of people within the community.”
