Streak not on Wildcats minds

Extending its current winning-streak is not on the minds of the Perth Wildcats as it prepares to rekindle its rivalry with the Adelaide 36ers on Saturday.
However, a win will extend the streak to double-figures, something that has only been done two-times in the club’s 40 seasons.
“We don’t even talk about it,” said coach Trevor Gleeson.
“We just want to concentrate on playing the right way. It’s about being unselfish, passing the ball when you teammate’s open, having your mate’s back on the defensive end, staying committed to the team plan and your role on the team.
“We have some great guys buying in and having fun out on the court, and hopefully we can make a few more baskets in the next game.”
Poetically, the last team to win 10-straight games in a season was the 36ers in 2015.
Saturday’s game will be the third meeting between Perth and Adelaide this season, with the Wildcats taking both wins thus far.
A major factor in those results was the Wildcats work on the offensive glass.
In the first game Perth had 15 more and in the second the difference was 19 – the two differences in offensive rebounds for the 36ers this season.
Bryce Cotton scored a season-high 36 points in the Wildcats last clash with the Wildcats, but John Mooney has also been significant in these matchups.
Mooney had 17 points and 17 rebounds in their first meeting and 11 points and 14 rebounds in their second.
The big American has a league leading 14 double-doubles and incredibly has recorded one in his last five games.
Tip-off on Saturday is at 3.30pm, and you can watch it live on VICELAND on SBS On Demand.
