It’s a new game, with a new name, but that’s not the only change for SuperCoach NBL – in fact, we’ve changed up the whole platform to make things better for you, our incredible basketball fans.

For NBL24, there’s several key changes to our fantasy product, so here’s your go-to-guide for everything new, everything reviewed, and everything in between, to give yourself the best chance of winning the ultimate bragging rights among your mates.
This is SuperCoach NBL.
Prizes
The prizes don’t come much bigger than this! This year our overall winner will take home a Mitsubishi ASX GS 2WD AUTO, valued at over $29,000.
And that’s not all. Every week, our top scorer will receive $500 cash, plus a $100 NBL Store voucher, to gear up for the NBL24 season. How good’s that?!
The salary cap
SuperCoach NBL players will have a salary cap of $2 million to select their team of five starters and five bench players.
Player positions
Based off your feedback, we’ve worked with our friends at NewsCorp and The Basketball Blokes to change the structure of player positioning within the game. That means more flexibility, with the guard, forward and center positions the only ones in play – so you can pick your starting five with two point guards, two power forwards and a center, if that’s the way you want to go.
NBL23: PG/SG/SF/PF/C/Utility
NBL24: G/G/F/F/C
It gives you more room to move your favourite stars and ensures more variety amongst teams when things heat up late in the season.
Your bench is important too! Unlike other fantasy platforms, SuperCoach NBL challenges you to make the most of the players outside your starting five – you’ll get 50 per cent of their scores for any given round.
But your bench is still there for cover too. Should you have a non-scoring player in your starting five, you’ll get the full tally of your lowest scoring bench player for that round.
New scoring system
We know you’ve asked for a simpler scoring system, and SuperCoach NBL is here to help.
This year, you’ll be able to work out your scores on the go, while watching live on ESPN, with a clear and easy to follow system.
We haven’t tinkered too much, but the main changes are as follows:
- No point deduction for missed field goals or free throws
- Removed offensive/defensive split for rebounds
- Revised bonuses for double-doubles and triple-doubles
So what does it all mean? It’s a more balanced playing field.
Based off last year’s NBL Fantasy scores, Bryce Cotton would have been the highest scoring SuperCoach NBL player, while there’s a clear move towards the best performing players on court looming as the top-scoring SuperCoach players.
The scoring system:
Point – 1 point
Rebound – 1 point
Assist – 2 points
Block – 3 points
Steal – 3 points
Turnover – Minus 2 points
Double-double – 5 points
Triple-double – 10 points
Player pricing
A new salary cap means a new pricing system, and we’ve made some subtle changes to help you get the most out of the game, with the help of NewsCorp and The Basketball Blokes.
- Prices are based on average points per game from previous season, rather than a player’s finishing price – a more accurate representation of season-long performance.
- Players that played in the NBL in the last two years and have returned, ie. Matthew Dellavedova, will be priced based on past performance. Exceptions to that rule, ie. Jacob Wiley, who last played in the NBL in 2018-2019, will be priced per new players to the competition.
- Based on past performance, we’ve made it a little harder to get your hands on imports, but increased the incentive and upside for college players and Next Stars – this provides a huge advantage for those who can identify the most talented young guns.
- Player values will be adjusted for the first time after they have played three games.
Trade boost
Supercoach NBL players can enjoy an additional four trades (outside of the normal two per round), across the season. A trade boost allows you to make three trades in any given week, four times across the season.
Use them wisely ... this could be the difference between missing a potential cash cows or bargains on the bubble.
It’s a little bit to take in, but we’re confident these changes will make a huge difference to how much you’ll enjoy SuperCoach NBL, and ultimately, gaining that extra edge over your opponent.
