THE PERTH WILDCAST RETURNS FOR NBL27

The Perth Wildcast is back for NBL27, giving the Red Army even greater access to the players, coaches and personalities behind the Perth Wildcats.

The club’s official podcast returns with a fresh format, with Triple M and LiSTNR’s Dan Leach taking the reins for the season.

Each episode will feature a rotation of Wildcats guests and co-hosts, opening the door for more in-depth conversations, untold stories and plenty of insight from inside the club.

Wildcats young gun Blake Nielsen joins Leachy for the first episode, reflecting on the moment he signed with Perth and what it means to begin his professional career with the club he grew up around.

Nielsen has been connected to the Wildcats for much of his life through his father, Matt Nielsen, who served as an assistant coach during the club’s championship-winning seasons in 2016, 2017 and 2019 before continuing his coaching career in the NBA.

The 23-year-old also provides an update on his recovery from the knee injury he suffered during the pre-season and discusses the support he has received from his teammates, coaches and the Red Army.

Basketball isn’t Nielsen’s only sporting passion. A lifelong Fremantle supporter, he shares where his love for the Dockers began and his excitement as the club chases its first premiership in Saturday’s AFL Grand Final.

With Fremantle fever sweeping across WA, the opening episode puts a Dockers spin on the podcast as Nielsen is joined by two of the biggest Freo fans inside the Wildcats organisation, Sam Fotu and Josh Van Kempen.

The trio discuss the build-up to the Grand Final, the connections between the clubs and their hopes that Saturday delivers a memorable double for the Dockers and Wildcats.

There's plenty of Wildcats basketball to cover on The Wildcast during a huge week at RAC Arena.

The Wildcats host the Adelaide 36ers on Thursday night ahead of the New Zealand Breakers on Saturday, giving Perth sports fans the perfect opportunity to continue the action at RAC Arena after the AFL Grand Final.

The Red Army can catch the decider at Pirate Life Perth, then head into in The Jungle as the Wildcats take on the NZ Breakers.
