After four months away from his wife and one-year old son, TaShawn Thomas has been reunited with his family in Perth.
“It feels good, it kind of feels like it took forever, but having them here is a just a big weight off my shoulders,” he said.
“Now I can look past that and just focus on everything here.
“My son hasn’t really seen a game with him knowing what’s going on yet so I’m kind of excited to see how he’s going to react watching me run around out there.”
Thomas said he’s still adjusting to playing a different role at the Wildcats.
“I’ve had different roles at different places so kind of having to figure out what coach exactly wanted me to do and figuring out how to help the team as whole has been tough,” he said.
“But I feel like with my role, defensively, I’ve taken a step forward and I’m just going to continue to try and get better.
“It’s tough but I just have to make that adjustment and trust that the team is going to be successful with whatever my role needs to be.”
With a rollercoaster season so far, Thomas says the team are just looking for the positives.
“The loss, we kind of shook that off, and the win, the same,” he said.
“I feel like we’re just trying to focus on the positives.
“Coming into today we focused on the good thing we took out of the Breakers game and are just trying to build off of that on focus on what we can be better at.”
Perth Wildcats take on Adelaide 36ers at Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Friday night, tip-off at 4:30pm WST.
