Cotton, fresh off a fourth Andrew Gaze Trophy as the competition’s Most Valuable Player, is red-hot favourite to join legends Ricky Grace and Shawn Redhage as a six-time Wildcats MVP winner.
The 31-year-old helped turn the team’s season around from a horror 2-5 start to clinching second spot on the ladder and a return to play-offs.
Cotton finished the regular-season with a competition-high 23.1 points and 4.3 assists per game.
“For that two-month stretch, he was playing at an unbelievable level. Probably one of the best in NBL history,” head coach John Rillie said this week.
The Gordon Ellis Medal is determined through a game-by-game voting system.
Following every game, the four Wildcats coaches, one Wildcats great and one basketball journalist each vote on who they deem the most valuable players of that game.
A 3-2-1 voting system is used, with the best player allocated three votes.
Eric Watterson Medal for Players’ Player, Most Improved, Andrew Vlahov Medal for Best Defensive and Coaches’ Award are the other accolades given out on the night.
There will be several more inductees to the Wildcats’ Hall of Fame, joining inaugural members Paul Rogers, Eric Watterson and Bob Williams from last season.
All the action kicks off at 6.30pm.
