The energetic guard is the latest Perth Wildcat locked in for next season, with the Wildcats opting to pick up Webster’s club option ahead of the start of the NBL’s Free Agency period on Monday 15 April.
The New Zealander averaged 8.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 0.9 steals per game, while shooting at 46 per cent from the field.
In his first full season as a Wildcat after joining midway through the previous campaign, Webster finished fourth in the Wildcats’ Gordon Ellis Medal MVP voting behind back-court partner Bryce Cotton, Keanu Pinder and Kristian Doolittle.
Webster is excited to return next season and believes the Wildcats have a great chance to build on a promising NBL24 campaign as they hunt an 11th NBL championship.
“I’m very excited, I’m definitely looking forward to the challenges and getting back out there with the guys and competing for a championship again,” Webster said.
“I think we have a great chance, we’ve got a lot of guys coming back and we’ve got a core group that have stuck around.
“Hopefully we can add some good pieces and get back to at least where we were last season.”
Webster became a fan favourite for his post-win “believe” catch phrase at RAC Arena, but he teased to the Red Army that he may change it up in NBL25.
“I think I’m going to switch it up this year, maybe given them something funky, something fresh and keep it new,” he said.
“We’re excited to bring Tai back for NBL25 after proving to be a valuable contributor in his first full season as a Wildcat,” Wildcats General Manager of Basketball Operations Danny Mills said.
“He’s a talented two-way guard who brings a great dynamic to our group both on and off the court with his infectious energy and enthusiasm.
“He formed a great partnership with Bryce in the backcourt and we feel he complements the rest of our roster extremely well.”
