Perth Wildcats captain Jesse Wagstaff will add another milestone to his record-setting career on Wednesday when he plays his 550th NBL game against the Brisbane Bullets.

Wednesday’s Ignite Cup clash in Brisbane adds another chapter to one of the most decorated careers in NBL history, with Wagstaff still finding new ways to make his mark.

His 545th appearance brought a career high in assists, surpassing a personal best that had stood since 2016. Last season, his teammates voted him Players’ Player, earning him the NBL26 Watto Award and reflecting the esteem in which the skipper is held within the group.

His recent achievements sit alongside a remarkable record of success across a club-record 18 seasons.

Wagstaff’s 343 wins are the most by any player for a single NBL club. His 69 finals games include nine Grand Final appearances, with six championship wins spanning his debut season in 2010 through to Perth’s 2020 title.

Championships in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2019 helped shape that run, with Wagstaff a constant through one of the most successful periods in Wildcats history.

His standing in the club’s record books extends well beyond games played.

Wagstaff ranks third in Wildcats history for three-pointers made (536), seventh for points (4,142), eighth for rebounds (1,716), ninth for steals (268) and 10th for assists (613).

The 2010 NBL Rookie of the Year and 2012 Best Sixth Man has also surpassed James Crawford’s previous club age record of 39 years and 300 days.

The esteem in which Wagstaff is held by his teammates was reflected last season when they voted him Players’ Player, earning the NBL26 Watto Award.

Now, 550 games into a career spent entirely in Perth, the captain will lead the Wildcats into Brisbane with the same goal that has defined his career: winning.
