The Perth Wildcats trained at RAC Arena for the first time this season on Wednesday ahead of their season-opener on Friday night.
Star recruit Vic Law will be one of up to five Wildcats to make their debut at The Jungle, and he said it’s something he and his teammates have been looking forward to for a long time.
“Yeah this is my first time at RAC, and it looks like a really nice arena, so I’m excited to get in here and fill it with energy that the fans bring,” he said.
“I played in the Big 10 in college, so I’m used to rabid fans, it will be nice to have them on my side. Everyone says it’s an unbelievable atmosphere, the fans are crazy and they’re great. I’m just excited to get in here and play.”
He said the team got in a good workout on their home floor.
“The guys got up and down today, we need to get ready for Adelaide who played well at the Blitz, but, I could care less about how many games were won or lost in the Blitz, it doesn’t mean anything,” he said.
“December 3rd. That’s when it counts, so we’ve got to be ready. I think everyone’s feeling good, we’ve got what we’ve got and the guys suiting up out there are ready to go to battle.”
Law was impressive at the Blitz, leading the Wildcats in points and rebounds.
He said it was a good opportunity for him.
“It can only be helpful, I felt good. I feel like those minutes really prepared me to play. I most certainly took a tonne of shots, so let’s hope a couple of them go in.”
Tip-off on Friday night against the Adelaide 36ers is at 6.30pm.
