Looking ahead to the fast-approaching NBL23 season, head coach John Rillie is excited about how the team is shaping up.
“I can walk into that gym every day and I get excited to be around those guys so that’s always a good way to start the day,” he said.
“As far as where we are basketball-wise, the style of play, I’m excited about it because we have played well, but we’ve also got a long way to go.”
Jesse Wagstaff (hamstring), Majok Majok (ankle), Corey Shervill (foot), and TaShawn Thomas (ankle) are yet to be cleared to play in Saturday’s clash with Cairns, however, Rillie said it’s a great opportunity for other players to step up.
“If they don’t play, they’re very close, it will be good at some stage to have a full roster,” he said.
“As I’ve said many times, when someone is out, it’s an opportunity for someone else to step in and show us what they’re about.
“You saw Michael Harris utilise his playing time on Sunday very well.”
