Summary
The Perth Wildcats 2022/23 season has come to a heartbreaking end, falling to Cairns 78-91 in a do-or-die play-in game at Cairns Convention Centre. An undermanned Cairns got off to a good start, DJ Hogg stepping up in a big way for the home side in the absence of Keanu Pinder and Tahjere McCall. The Wildcats struggled offensively, while Cairns had the Cats covered on both ends of the court. Bryce Cotton finished with a team-high 19 points and a game-high 10 assists. DJ Hogg starred for the Taipans, finishing with a game-high 32 points and 9 rebounds.
Reaction
John Rillie shared his thoughts after tonight’s loss.
“Very disappointing,” he said.
“We’re at the time of year where you want to keep playing, we weren’t the best team out there tonight so that’s very disappointing.
“We’re all emotional right now so for me to really give a good assessment of how we did, that would be unfair.
