Wildcats off-season: Doolittle back in action in Puerto Rico

The Perth Wildcats big man, who won the club's Best Defensive Player award in his debut year in the NBL last season, put up 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the 68-63 victory over Aguada on Saturday.

It came two days after an impressive return, following the birth of his first child, when he scored a team-high 22 points to go with eight rebounds and five assists in Thursday's narrow 101-98 loss to Santurce.

Doolittle will play for the Wildcats once again in NBL25 after signing a one-year contract extension.

Guards Tai Webster and Ben Henshall were among Otago's best in their 116-105 road loss to Hawke's Bay on Saturday.

Webster (27 points, eight assists, four rebounds and two steals) and Henshall (20 points, five assists and five rebounds) combined for 47 points and 13 assists but couldn't get their team over the line.

Centre Jack Andrew contributed nine points and five rebounds, while Dontae Russo-Nance scored six points in his second game back from a wrist injury.

The Nuggets also lost on the road three days prior, falling one-point short in a heartbreaking defeat to newcomers Tauranga Whai, despite Henshall's double-double.

Henshall finished with 13 points and as many rebounds, to go with two steals.

Andrew was a big presence at both ends of the floor with 14 points, six rebounds, two blocks and two steals, while Webster (14 points and seven rebounds) also reached double digits.

Tai will face up against his older brother and former Wildcat Corey in Dunedin on Thursday as Auckland, coached by Wildcats assistant Aaron Young, come to town.

Hyrum Harris hasn't played for Wellington since April 25 due to a knee issue.

In the NBL1 West, sharpshooter Michael Harris starred on Saturday night as Warwick took down Cockburn 113-93 at Warwick Stadium.

Harris hit a game-high 31 points, including five three-pointers, to go with seven rebounds, six assists and two steals in a dominant display.

He also featured against Joondalup on Friday night, putting up 18 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in a 105-90 away loss.

David Okwera was also in action over the weekend as his East Perth Eagles produced an upset over reigning champs Geraldton in the State's Mid-West region.

Okwera finished with 16 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals as the Eagles prevailed 87-72 on Saturday night.
