Wildcats off-season: Russo-Nance's breakout game, double-double David

Perth Wildcats development player Dontae Russo-Nance had his best game since returning from a wrist injury in Otago’s loss to Auckland on Thursday.

In just his third game of the New Zealand Basketball League season, Russo-Nance starred off the bench with 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals.

It was billed as the showdown of the Webster brothers, but Tuatara veteran and former Wildcat Corey had the last laugh over his younger brother Tai, scoring a game-high 22 points in an easy win.

Big man Jack Andrew (10 points, seven rebounds and two steals) was decent in a losing cause for the Nuggets, while Ben Henshall chipped in with 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal.

Auckland, coached by Wildcats assistant coach Aaron Young, are top of the Sal's NBL ladder with a 10-2 record. 

Hyrum Harris made a successful from a knee injury in Wellington's thrilling 87-85 road win against Franklin on Sunday.

Harris, who was among the favourites for the competition's MVP award before his setback, picked up where he left off with 17 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and four steals.

The emerging tall scored 19 points and reeled in 11 board as the Eagles defeated Cockburn 109-95 at Morley Sport and Recreation Centre on Friday night.

Okwera, who shot at 75 per cent from the field, also had six assists and two steals in an impressive performance.

He's had a double-double in six of his eight appearances this season, averaging 18.75 points and 10.63 rebounds.

Michael Harris was another big performer over the weekend as Warwick easily accounted for the Cougars 104-80 on the road.

Harris hit 21 points to go with eight rebounds, six assists and four steals.

His plus-minus of 32 was the highest of anyone on the court.

Defensive beast Kristian Doolittle had a huge week in Puerto Rico, playing three games in five days for Vaqueros de Bayamon.

Doolittle was one stat shy of a double-double in each of his three games.

His best performance came in the 90-80 victory over Osos de Manati on Thursday when he finished with 17 points, nine assists and six rebounds.
