Perth Wildcats players continued to make their mark in the NBL1 and NZNBL, with dominant double-doubles, season-best defensive efforts and standout performances.
Newest Perth Wildcat Marley Sam had a memorable Friday, suiting up for the Eastern Suns just hours after competing in the Wildcats Academy Intraclub and being announced as a Development Player for the Perth Wildcats.
Continuing the form that has him in the NBL1 West MVP conversation, Sam contributed 14 points, five rebounds, seven assists and two steals as the Suns fell short against the Perth Redbacks.
Fresh off representing Australia with the Boomers, David Okwera returned to the East Perth Eagles lineup and helped steer his side to back-to-back wins.
Okwera reached double figures in both outings, finishing with 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and a block against the Lakeside Lightning before backing it up with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists in a win over the Perth Redbacks.
Cameron Huefner was at his dominant best as the Perry Lakes Hawks stunned ladder leaders the Rockingham Flames by 22 points.
Huefner recorded his seventh double-double of the season, pouring in 31 points, 10 rebounds, one assist and two steals in one of the Hawks' biggest wins of the year.
Tom Gerovich continues to build momentum following his return from injury for the Willetton Tigers.
After collecting six points, seven rebounds and one assist against the Mandurah Magic, Gerovich notched his first double-double since returning, finishing with 14 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals as the Tigers defeated the Warwick Senators.
Over in the NBL1 East, Alex Higgins-Titsha controlled the boards for the Bankstown Bruins, pulling down 11 rebounds while also recording a season-high four blocks to go with five points.
Over in New Zealand, Elijah Pepper continued his stellar season with another pair of high-impact performances for the Wellington Saints.
Pepper scored 30 points, four rebounds, five assists and two steals in a win over the Whai before following it up with 27 points, five rebounds, nine assists and six steals against the Canterbury Rams in a narrow defeat.
