Perth Wildcats guard Wani Swaka Lo Buluk has added SBL Champion to his resume, after the Warwick Senators won Sunday’s West Coast Classic Grand Final.
After trailing the Perry Lakes Hawks at three-quarter time, the Senators dominated the final quarter to win 96-81 – claiming their first championship banner.
Swaka Lo Buluk had nine points and three rebounds, while former Wildcats development player Corban Wroe took out Grand Final MVP honours.
Wildcats legend Mike Ellis is Warwick’s head coach.
The Senators qualified for the Grand Final after defeating the Lakeside Lightning in Friday’s semi-final.
Swaka Lo Buluk was outstanding in that game, with 19 points, five assists, five rebounds, three steals and an emphatic block over his Wildcats teammate Andrew Ferguson.
Ferguson was also solid for the Lightning with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Joondalup Wolves, starring former Perth Lynx forward Kayla Steindl (Clint’s wife), took out the women’s championship.
In Spain, Nick Kay’s Real Betis had their first games of the 2020/21 season.
In a 19-point loss on Friday, Kay added seven points and 11 rebounds, and in a seven-point loss on Sunday, he had 13 points and eight rebounds.
The two-times Wildcats champ is back in action on Sunday.
