Perth Wildcats players Wani Swaka Lo Buluk and Andrew Ferguson will face off the semi-finals of the SBL’s West Coast Classic competition.
Swaka Lo Buluk’s Warwick Senators finished on top of the standings, while it came down to the final possession of the regular season for Ferguson’s Lakeside Lightning.
The Lightning needed a win of more than 14 points to leap-frog the Perth Redbacks and advance to the final four.
Leading by 15, the Redbacks missed a three with seconds on the clock that would have sent them to finals instead of the Lighting.
Newly signed Wildcats development player Ferguson was pivotal in the win, adding 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Wani Swaka Lo Buluk added seven points in limited minutes as the Senators easily took care of the Rockingham Flames.
The Senators and Lighting will face-off on Friday night for a place in Sunday’s Grand Final.
Meanwhile overseas, European basketball is underway.
Back-to-back Wildcats champion Nick Kay’s Real Betis had a Round One bye and will play their first games of the new ACB season on Friday and Saturday evenings (Spanish time).
¡Buena suerte, Nick!
