More than a decade on from his dunk at Challenge Stadium, when he launched over court announcer Aaron Ford with a stunning leap which got the Red Army on their feet, the legendary former AFL star revealed the trouble he got himself into with his old club West Coast.
The three-time All-Australian and dual John Worsfold medallist described himself as "young, dumb and silly" over the incident, which is still one of the most watched videos on the Wildcats' YouTube channel
"I was a bit disrespectful to some of the (Wildcats) players, because I'd see some guys Keanu Pinder's size running down the court and then doing these little layups and I was like 'dunk the thing'," Naitanui said on-stage.
"Someone caught wind of me saying this and told me to dunk it. I got caught up in the hype with cheerleaders doing their thing and everyone in the crowd, so I jumped over Aaron at the time and nearly lost my job.
"I had to do counselling for a while."
‘Nic Nat’ this week took over over from sports broadcasting great Dennis Cometti as the Wildcats' No.1 ticket-holder.
Cometti held the role for 10 years.
