Rillie joins the Wildcats as a Development Player for NBL26 before joining the main roster the following season.
The signing comes after two impressive seasons with the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) Bears, where he established himself as one of the Big Sky Conference’s most reliable all-round performers.
In 2024-25, Rillie started all 24 games he played, averaging 14.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. He led UNC in both rebounds and assists, helping guide the Bears to the Big Sky Championship game.
Rillie saved some of his best performances for the biggest moments, scoring a season-high 24 points against Weber State and again in the conference title clash with Montana.
Rillie started 28 games in his first year for UNC and averaged 11.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game, highlighted by a 30-point explosion against North Dakota.
“I’m really excited to be joining the Perth Wildcats and grateful for the chance to represent such a successful club. Growing up, playing professionally was always the goal, so to be here now with such a strong organisation is really special. I’ve heard a lot about the Red Army and the atmosphere they bring, and I can’t wait to get out there, compete, and win games,” said Jaron.
Before transferring to UNC, Rillie spent three seasons at Samford University, where he gained valuable experience across more than 80 appearances.
Perth Wildcats General Manager of Basketball Operations Danny Mills said the club was thrilled to bring in a guard with Rillie’s versatility and composure.
“Jaron has proven himself at every step of his college career and has a very bright future as a pro. With his high BBIQ and ability to impact the game as both a playmaker and efficient scorer, we believe he’ll be a great fit for our current group and someone our fans will enjoy watching. ” Mills said.

Known for his efficiency, he shot 47% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc in his sophomore campaign, while also proving a steady hand at the free throw line across his college career.
Wildcats Head Coach John Rillie is looking forward to the depth Jaron will bring to the WIldcats’ roster.
“Adding Jaron as a DP adds depth in our backcourt. After a successful college career, I look forward to seeing continued growth as he transitions into the pro ranks.”
Jaron will play in the pre-season intrasquad clash Friday 22 August at Morley Recreation Centre.
