Jones, 27, signs a one-year deal with the Wildcats after leading the Sacramento Kings’ G League affiliate the Stockton Kings to the 2024/25 NBA G League Championship, where he was named Finals MVP.
He averaged 23.6 points, 7.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game across the season, while shooting an elite 44.7 percent from three. In the deciding game he handed out 13 assists, the second most ever recorded in a G League Finals game, showing that his greatest strength is making his teammates better when the stakes are highest.
That selfless approach was clear when Jones was asked about his MVP performance. “That's where we've been all year. We've been a team. We've always been together, off the court and on the court, and that's how you win championships, as a team!
“Our team had been resilient all year, and we knew we were ready for the battle. I’m just proud, and it’s all the hard work that goes to the team. We all put in hard work all day, every day, and it shows, and it pays off,” said Jones while holding the MVP trophy post-game.
Perth Wildcats General Manager of Basketball Operations Danny Mills said, “We’re thrilled to have Mason joining the organisation and look forward to getting him to Perth and integrated with the team.
“He’s a dynamic guard with the ability to play both on and off the ball, score at all three levels, and make a strong impact as an efficient playmaker with his passing and basketball IQ.”
Jones has 51 games of NBA experience to go with his dominant G League performances, having played with Sacramento, the Lakers, Philadelphia and Houston.
Head Coach John Rillie said the inclusion of Mason Jones comes at just the right time, “I’m looking forward to getting Mason on the floor with our group as Sept 20 is fast approaching.
“His scoring ability paired with his skill set to involve his teammates at the offensive end, will add a nice dynamic to our group.”
Jones said he is ready to embrace the Red Army, “I’m excited and thrilled to be part of the Perth family. I hear nothing but great things, I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and coaches. Everybody speaks so highly of Perth and I know you expect nothing but championships.
“Big things to come but we will have to earn it every day through the good and bad. Can’t wait to see what the Red Army looks like in person, I hear you’re some of the best fans so I’m expecting you’ll all show out this year for us.”
With Jones now locked in, the Wildcats enter NBL26 with a roster built on balance, versatility and elite talent who are now joined by a guard who knows how to lead, how to win, and how to bring the best out of the players around him.
Welcome to Wildnation Mason!
