Summary
It was a close start between the Perth Wildcats and the Cairns Taipans, and the score remained tight for the first three quarters. The hot hand of Bryce Cotton saw the Wildcats put their foot down in the final term, running out an 18-point margin.
Cotton was exceptional for the Wildcats, scoring 21 first-half points and finishing with a huge 36 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists.
Luke Travers put on a show for the Darwin locals, dunking the ball all over the place and finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
Reaction
Cotton is pleased with how the team performed tonight.
“It feels good to get up and down, it was a pretty intense game and we had to match Cairns’ energy,” he said.
“It was a great test for us, it was a lot of fun.
“We’re all gelling pretty well, it’s great, everybody has got their roles, and everybody has bought into it so we’re all playing for each other.”
Player focus
Bryce Cotton was an absolute standing out tonight, finishing with a game-high 36 points, including seven three-pointers.
