Perth Wildcats vice-captain Mitch Norton has returned to Perth following Australian Boomers duties in Kazakhstan and said he loves representing his country on the international stage.
“It’s a long way to go but any chance you get to pull on the green and gold is very special,” he said.
“To do it in the snow is something that I’ve never really done before either so it’s a really cool environment and something that I love being a part of.”
Norton said the FIBA break has come at a good time for all teams in the league.
“Yeah good, everyone kind of did what they had to do, taking care of the body or getting in and getting extra reps, so it’s good to see everyone back and raring to go,” he said.
“It’s a good little break, and this next part of the season is super important.”
Following the Wildcats win over Adelaide 36ers last Saturday, Norton said the team is trying to stay true to who they are.
“There’s obviously positives and negative that come out of a game, it’s good that we’re sticking true to who we are,” he said.
“We’re not going to reinvent the wheel or anything like that but there’s areas we can tighten up and we’ve adjusted some of those throughout this little break.
“I just love the group of guys we’ve got, we’re getting together, we’re having lunch and things like that, catching up as much as we can, and I think that just creates a nice tight bond.”
