Wildcats Weekly Wrap 31 May

As the Perth Wildcats continue to build their roster for NBL24, many of the contracted players have taken their talents overseas and to the NBL1.

Catch up with what players are playing and how the players are performing.

Corey Webster:

In the sides debut season for the league, Corey Webster and Al Ahly basketball have taken out the Basketball Africa League Championship.

In a close semi-final, Webster had 7 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists as Al Ahly defeated Stade Malien by 5 points to advance to the grand final.

Taking on Association Sportive des Douanes in the Grand Final, Al Ahly ran away 15-point winners as Webster had 10 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.

Hyrum Harris:

After a tough stretch, Hyrum Harris and the Hawke’s Bay Hawks are back on track after winning back-to-back games in round 8 of the NZNBL.

Taking on the Otago Nuggets last Friday, Harris had a 14 point/12 rebound double-double with his energy on the defensive end of the court playing a big part in the win.

Taking on the Southland Sharks the next day, Harris had 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in a 19-point win.

Ben Henshall:

Henshall and the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence had the tall task of taking on three opponents in the space of four days in round 11 of the NBL1 East, though the side were up to it securing wins in all three games.

Ben Henshall started all three games for the side, posting 10 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists in a 33-point win over the Central Coast Crusaders.

Henshall then scored 16 points to go with 5 rebounds and 4 assists in a 21-point win over the Sydney Comets, before rounding out the round with 9 points, 2 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals in a 9-point win over the Canberra Gunners.

Michael Harris:

Michael Harris had his second 30+ point game of the season as the Otago Nuggets lost their second game of the season going down to Hyrum Harris’ Hawks by 1 -point in a Friday night thriller.

Extending his streak of 20+ point games to six, Harris finished with the match with 31 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.

Kyle Zunic:

Kyle Zunic and the Northside Wizards took on the Sunshine Coast in the NBL1 North on the weekend, going down to the side by 7 points.

Kyle put up his best stat line of the season though, finishing with a dominant 27 points, 4 rebounds and 10 assists in the win.

Jack Andrew:

After a spending the past few weeks recovering from an ankle injury, Jack Andrew returned to the court in round 8 of the NZNBL. 

In limited court time, Andrew finished with 4 points and 2 rebounds.
