As the NBL off season rolls on, Perth Wildcats players are taking their talents overseas and to the NBL1.
Keep up with what players are playing and how they are performing.
Tai Webster:
Tai Webster backed up his debut performance for the Nuggets with a pair of strong showings against the Hawke’s Bay Hawks and the Franklin Bulls in the NZNBL.
With his first double-double for the season, Webster played a big part in the close win over the Hawks finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Hyrum Harris:
Hyrum Harris faced the Otago Nuggets and Wellington Saints over the past few weeks, with the Hawke’s Bay Hawks getting one win and one loss from the pair of games.
Harris was instrumental in the sides win over the Saints with 19 points, 9 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block, including an incredibly clutch three with two minutes remaining in the match to help secure the W.
David Okwera:
David Okwera is continuing to impact off the bench for the Perth Redbacks as the side attempt to seal their high ladder position in the lead up to playoffs.
Against the Cockburn Cougars on Saturday, Okwera had 7 points and 3 blocks in a strong defensive performance that helped his side secure the win.
Michael Harris:
It was a career night for Michael Harris against the Franklin Bulls, finishing up with a career-high 35 points, including 5 three point makes and 3 steals.
It was Harris fifth 30+ point performance of the season, moving him up to second place in points per game across the entire league.
Kyle Zunic:
Kyle Zunic and the Northside Wizards have suffered a pair of losses over the past few weeks in the NBL1 North.
Zunic put up 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists against the Darwin Salties, before an 8 point, 7 assist and 5 steal performance against the Southern Districts Spartans a week later.
Jack Andrew:
Jack Andrew has played a big role over the past few weeks for the Nuggets, especially against the Hawke’s Bay Hawks where he joined the starting five in Sam Timmins absence.
Andrew finished with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks in the win, before coming back off the bench against the Franklin Bulls a week later for 3 blocks and 7 rebounds.
Ben Henshall:
On the other side of the world, Ben Henshall is currently in Atlanta with the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence taking part in the NBA Academy games.
In Henshall’s first game of the tournament he finished with a game-high 20 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals in the sides blow out win.
Alex Sarr:
The Wildcats first NBL Next Star, Alexandre Sarr, has taken to the court representing France in the FIBA Basketball U19 World Cup.
In a historic series for the country, France fell painstakingly short of a Gold Medal going down to Spain in overtime.
Sarr was a defensive beast in the tournament, averaging 7.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 2 blocks.
Corey Webster:
In his second game for the Canterbury Rams, Corey put up 13 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist in a loss to the Auckland Tuatara.
Despite the loss, Webster and the Rams secured their spot in the NZNBL final 6 later this month.
