The 201cm forward is known for his energy and motor, especially on the glass, ability to create opportunities for his teammates, as well as be an effective playmaker without the ball as an off-ball cutter.
“I think I excel at doing the little things, rebounding and being able to defend multiple positions.”
“Try and get my teammates better shots, get them open off screens, anything to get the team the win.”
Higgins-Titsha heads to Perth after two seasons with the Cairns Taipans.
His journey to the NBL wasn't a conventional one. Forgoing the college pathway, he continued to grind in NBL1 before being rewarded with a Development Player contract after impressing at an open trial.
“Through my journey being like that and just earning everything, I don't take any opportunity for granted.”
Making his NBL debut in October 2024, he put his name on the map with 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 blocks in just five minutes, quickly earning the opportunity that saw him become a key rotation player finishing the season with 18 games to his name including multiple starts.
The forward didn’t have as much luck in NBL26. After a strong start to the season averaging 6.2 points, including a career-high 16 point performance, a wrist injury saw it cut short after just nine games.
Now recovered, Higgins-Titsha is averaging 16.7 points and 8.5 rebounds for the Bankstown Bruins in the NBL1 East, as well as representing Australia playing 3x3 basketball, and is excited at the opportunity to bring his craft to Perth.
“Being such a winning organisation and playing with Windler and Doolittle who’ve been huge and center like JLA. It's going to be awesome to play with guys like that and especially learn from guys like that.”
“I’m really keen to learn from a whole bunch of new coaches and some really talented and experienced players.”
“Perth is a gorgeous city. And I'm very excited to explore the beaches and explore the area too.”
With fond memories of playing at RAC Arena with his one experience at the venue being a double-overtime thriller, Higgins-Titsha can’t wait to experience that every home game.
“The atmosphere there was crazy, and like that every home game is going to be awesome.”
“That was the best atmosphere I've ever played in for sure.”
Head Coach John Rillie is looking forward to the addition of Alex to the squad.
“Alex will provide depth and versatility to our front court.”
“Our coaching staff is excited to help Alex strive to maximise his potential as he is still relatively young in his pro career.”
COO and GM of Basketball, Danny Mills reiterated the excitement of being able to bring another young emerging talent into the program.
“Alex’s rapid improvement throughout his time in Cairns combined with impressive athletic tools provide him with a great foundation to continue the development of his skills into a consistent rotation player in the NBL.”
“His drive to improve and outwork people to fulfill his potential was clearly evident during the recruitment process, and he fits the type of self-motivated athlete we want to bring into our program and add to the competitive culture we are building here at Perth.”
