'Love that kid': Why coach is Rillie excited about Henshall

The first-year Wildcats guard capped off a brilliant series against the G-League Ignite in Las Vegas with a 16-point performance in game two on Friday night, shooting eight of 10 from the field.

Henshall, who backed up his impressive 10-point game on Wednesday night, helped the tourists to a 127-112 victory with an import role coming off the bench.

When asked about the Perth teenager after the win, Rillie spoke glowlingly about him.

"Oh man, I love that kid," Rillie said.

"We had him in last year just to practice and there's something about him. He has a chance to be special.

"Now everyone else is starting to realise that he's quite a good player. Where he gets to, we'll find out and it might take him a couple of years.

"He's certainly got some tools that get the NBA people excited, and myself of course."

The Wildcats leave the US on Sunday for the NBL Blitz tournament on the Gold Coast, taking on Cairns, Adelaide and New Zealand over a five-day period in the lead up to the NBL24.
