Perth Wildcats head coach Scott Morrison has arrived in Tasmania and met his new team for the first time.
Morrison was signed back in August but due to border restrictions was only able to arrive in Perth with his family a fortnight ago.
After 14 days of hotel quarantine, Morrison went straight back to the airport and boarded a flight for Hobart, where he would meet, and train, his team for the first time.
“A lot of hurdles had to be jumped over to get here, and I’m really excited to be here with the guys and be part of the team in physical form.”
Morrison had been coaching the team and communicating with his players and staff via Zoom since his appointment.
He said it helped make for a smooth transition when finally stepping onto the court.
“I feel like we’ve been together for a long time. There’s been six to eight weeks of meeting four or five times a week, studying film, having Zoom calls, meetings, talking to the guys one-on-one,” he said.
“But it is an adjustment to get here and see everything with my own eyes, but it’s nice. It’s nice to feel part of the team and that comradery.”
