Perth Wildcats recruit Vic Law has made a stunning club debut, dropping a career-high 37 points in the Wildcats season-opening 85-73 win over the Adelaide 36ers.
Law’s previous highest individual tally was 29 when playing for the Bullets last season.
37 points is the most scored by a Wildcat on club debut, exceeding James Crawford's record of 33 - which stood for 34 years.
He also added four rebounds and a block.
Law led the way in what was an impressive opening performance for the new-look Wildcats, who introduced four new players under new coach Scott Morrison.
“I told the team after the game, for getting that first win, I was pretty proud of this one because of the heart and toughness that we showed,” said Morrison.
“Being short-handed, and with a couple of things not going our way the last couple of months. I was real proud of the intangibles we showed out there.”
Matt Hodgson played just one minute of basketball before being pulled out of the game with a calf injury.
In his absence, Majok Majok stood up in his first official game since rupturing his Achilles tendon over a year ago.
He finished with nine points and 12 rebounds.
“It’s next man up, and credit to Majok, he played the most minutes in the sic games so far, and he came up with some really big offensive rebounds to keep our possessions alive.”
Bryce Cotton added 16 points, while Luke Travers had 15 and five rebounds.
With injuries to Mitch Norton, Todd Blanchfield and Michael Frazier II, the Wildcats through out a new-look starting five which included development player on debut, Kyle Zunic.
The 22-year-old held his own out there, finishing with two points, two assists and three rebounds.
Perth return to RAC Arena in two days time, taking on the Cairns Taipans this Sunday.
